Apple has announced the expansion of Tap to Pay on iPhone to five additional countries in Europe: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Monaco, and Norway.
With Tap to Pay on iPhone, merchants can accept in-person contactless payments directly on their device, without the need for extra hardware or payment terminals. Customers can pay using contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, or other digital wallets.
To complete a purchase, a customer simply holds their card, iPhone, Apple Watch, or compatible digital wallet near the merchant’s iPhone, with transactions processed securely through NFC technology.
First launched in the U.S. in February 2022, Tap to Pay on iPhone has steadily expanded to markets including Australia, Brazil, France, Japan, the Netherlands, Taiwan, the U.K., Ukraine, Canada, and Italy. With today’s rollout, the feature is now available in 43 countries and regions worldwide.
