Dyson has introduced its second personal audio accessory following the launch of its $949 noise-canceling headphones that also purify the air around you. The new Dyson OnTrac, which aims to compete with Apple’s over-ear AirPods Max, is Dyson’s first dedicated over-ear headphones, launching on August 1 for $599.
The OnTrac headphones feature replaceable ear cushions and ear cups, allowing users to customize their look with a mix of metal and fabric components. They include advanced active noise cancellation to reduce ambient noise and adaptive sound support that automatically adjusts audio settings based on the environment to enhance the listening experience.
The Dyson OnTrac offers up to 30 hours of playback on a single charge with noise cancellation enabled, and a quick 5-minute charge provides up to 5 hours of playback.
Similar to Apple’s AirPods lineup, the Dyson OnTrac includes a Transparency Mode that lets external sounds be heard without removing the headphones, which is useful for safety and awareness. The over-ear design also incorporates memory foam ear cushions for long-term comfort.
The Dyson OnTrac headphones are scheduled for release on September 15, 2024, with pre-orders available starting August 1, 2024. Dyson OnTrac Headphones are priced at $599 USD, compared to the Apple AirPods Max at $549 USD.
