Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the company’s next-generation version of Siri — first announced in 2024 — remains on schedule for release next year.
Speaking to CNBC following Apple’s latest earnings report, Cook said the upgraded assistant is progressing as planned and will form a key part of Apple Intelligence, the company’s expanding suite of AI-powered features.
“Our intention is to integrate with more people over time,” Cook said, referencing Apple’s existing partnership with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and hinting at future collaborations.
The revamped Siri will introduce several delayed features, including Personal Context, allowing the assistant to reference emails, messages, files, photos, and other personal data to complete tasks like locating documents or recalling details.
It will also gain Onscreen Awareness, enabling it to interact with what’s displayed on an iPhone or Mac screen — such as adding an address to a contact or sharing a photo — and Deeper App Integration for performing multi-step actions across apps, like editing images or moving files.
