Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are expected to bring substantial upgrades over the current-generation iPhone 14 series, although for the first time, Apple is rumored to make one of its most exciting new features exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are both slated to feature an upgraded design with a new, lighter and stronger chassis, improved battery performance, an all-new dark blue color option, thinner bezels, Apple’s new A17 Bionic chip, and support for USB-C, dropping the proprietary Lightning connector for greater accessory connectivity.
Here we look at 10 points of interest of the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
iPhone 15 Pro Design
Rumors suggest the iPhone 15 Pro will feature an updated design with thinner, curved bezels and a new titanium chassis. Apple is expected to remove the ring/silent mute switch on the iPhone and replace it with an all-new Action button, similar to the Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will stay the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro series, measuring in at 6.1-inches and 6.7-inches, respectively.

iPhone 15 Pro USB-C Charging
With the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max expected to transition from the proprietary Lightning connector to USB-C, the devices will see a change in charging port to support USB-C chargers. The change will also apply to the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
iPhone 15 Pro Telephoto Lens
Apple is expected to launch its first-ever telephone lens with the iPhone 15 Pro, coming exclusively to the largest iPhone 15 Pro Max. The introduction of a periscope camera lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max will see Apple compete with the growing number of smartphone manufacturers who are already bringing periscope capabilities to their devices, including Samsung with their Galaxy S22 Ultra that offers up to 10x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom.
iPhone 15 Pro Battery Life
Both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are rumored to use new stacked battery technology, where multiple battery cells are stacked on top of each other to increase the overall energy density and capacity of the battery, offering longer periods between charges and a longer lifespan.

iPhone 15 Pro A17 Bionic Chip
Apple is rumored to add an all-new A17 Bionic Chip inside the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, made with a new 3nm engraving process and will use 35% less power while also providing better performance than the previous 4nm and 5nm chips.
iPhone 15 Pro Titanium Chassis
The iPhone 15 Pro series is widely expected to feature a new titanium chassis, instead of stainless steel, making the devices stronger and lighter. So far, rumors suggest the iPhone 15 Pro will be available in Silver, Space Black, Gold, and a new dark blue color.
How Much Will the iPhone 15 Pro Max Cost?
The new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could be Apple’s most expensive iPhone models ever. The iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at $1099. A price increase of at least $100 could be applied to this year’s lineup, with the iPhone 15 Pro starting at $1099, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max starting at $1199.

When Will Apple Announce the iPhone 15 Pro?
Apple typically releases new iPhone models in September. Rumors suggest a special event will be held on either September 12 or September 13, where Apple will unveil the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, Apple Watch Series 9, and Apple Watch Ultra. The event will also likely see Apple confirm a date for when iOS 17, iPadOS 17 and watchOS 10 will be released.
When Will the iPhone 15 Pro Be Up for Pre-Order?
Based on Apple’s previous schedules, if the iPhone 15 Pro is announced on either September 13 or September 14, we expect pre-orders to begin on Friday, September 15, with the official launch a week later on September 22.
Will iPhone 14 Pro Cases Fit the iPhone 15 Pro?
No. Because of the rumored new Action button, and changes to the camera housing and speaker layout, cases and accessories made for the iPhone 14 Pro are not expected to fit the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
