M5 MacBook Air slated for spring 2026 launch

Apple is preparing to launch a new MacBook Air powered by its recently announced M5 chip in spring 2026, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Development reportedly continues on higher-end M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which are expected to debut in updated MacBook Pro models next year.

Apple introduced the M5 earlier this week alongside refreshed MacBook Pro, Apple Vision Pro, and iPad Pro models.

Built on TSMC’s third-generation 3-nanometer process, the M5 features a redesigned 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator integrated into every core, delivering over 4× faster AI performance compared to the M4. The GPU also offers up to 45% faster graphics and supports third-generation ray tracing for more realistic lighting and reflections in games and creative workflows.

Neither the upcoming MacBook Pro nor the MacBook Air models are expected to see major design changes, as Apple focuses on internal upgrades rather than aesthetic revisions.
