Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed psychological thriller Severance is set to air its highly anticipated Season 2 finale, titled “Cold Harbor,” next week—and it will be the show’s longest episode yet, running 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The series, created by Dan Erickson and directed in part by Ben Stiller, has recently shattered records, officially becoming the most-watched Apple TV+ series of all time. It surpassed Ted Lasso, previously the platform’s biggest hit.
Set in a chilling dystopian world, Severance follows employees at the enigmatic Lumon Industries, where workers undergo a controversial procedure that surgically separates their work and personal memories. This means they live as two distinct versions of themselves—one who exists solely within the confines of the office and another with no recollection of their professional life.
At the heart of the story is Mark Scout (Adam Scott), a Lumon employee who begins questioning the ethical and psychological consequences of the severance procedure. As he and his colleagues uncover unsettling secrets about the company, the series explores profound themes of identity, autonomy, and corporate control, painting a chilling picture of a dehumanized workforce.
Season 2 has plunged even deeper into the consequences of memory manipulation, unraveling new mysteries and pushing its characters toward increasingly dangerous revelations.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer and director Ben Stiller confirmed that a writers’ room is already at work in Los Angeles, mapping out the next chapter of the mind-bending series.
