Apple has opened up a repair program for the iPhone 14 Plus after determining that “a very small percentage” of units may experience an issue where the rear camera may exhibit no preview due to a hardware fault.
In a post to the Apple Support webpage, Apple says the defective devices were manufactured between April 10, 2023 to April 28, 2024, with users told to check if their device is affected by entering the serial number online.
Users with defective devices are given three options to repair their devices: request a pre-paid mail-in envelope for repair at an Apple facility, arrange an appointment at a local Apple Store, or visit a Apple Authorized Service Provider.
Whilst the repair is free, Apple notes that if a device has any damage which impairs the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked back glass, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the service. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the additional repair.
The program covers eligible iPhone 14 Plus for three years after the first retail sale of the unit and does not extend the standard warranty coverage of the device.
