12 Years of The Apple Post: A Look Back as We Prepare for Change Moving Forward

by Wire Tech

Today, we’re celebrating 12 years since The Apple Post was founded in October 2012. As we reflect on our journey and celebrate everyone who has supported us along the way, we also look forward to the future and share how things will be changing after more than a decade of covering all things Apple for millions of readers around the world.

The Apple Post was founded by Tom Sykes, who created a Facebook page dedicated to all things Apple, initially followed by a small group of friends and family. Gradually, the page’s audience began to grow, with The Apple Post quickly reaching its first hundred followers and not long after, the first thousand. This growth led Tom to create The Apple Post’s website, kickstarting the journey over the past 12 years.

Over the last decade, The Apple Post has welcomed several contributing writers from around the world, some of whom have since started working for Apple, to share their passion for Apple through stories, reviews, how-to guides, and more. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Timothy Phillips, Brandon Bourne, and Nathan Simpson for their contributions and for helping to fuel the site over the years.

Despite our collaborative hard work, The Apple Post would be nothing without the support of our readers. While we can’t personally name and thank each and every reader, we truly appreciate all of you for supporting The Apple Post.

We have had the pleasure of meeting so many kind and supportive individuals over the past 12 years. Below are some of the site’s most loyal supporters in a special Memoji collage.

With 12 successful years under our belts, it’s time for us to look to the future and share our plans for the years to come.

When The Apple Post was founded, Tom Sykes and many contributors were either in high school or college. This meant there was plenty of spare time to grow The Apple Post and write in-depth stories, how-to articles, and reviews. As time has gone on, life has evolved for all of us involved: careers have been launched, families have been started, and interests have shifted, making it increasingly difficult to maintain the pace we once had.

After careful consideration, we have decided to scale back The Apple Post. We will no longer be sharing daily or even weekly updates; instead, we will post when it is convenient for us and focus on sharing the stories we believe will interest you the most.

For years, Tom Sykes, in particular, has been writing about all things Apple around the clock—whether early in the morning before work, sneakily during work hours, late at night before bed, or even on vacation. This level of dedication is challenging, and while it has been rewarding, it isn’t sustainable. Believe us, spending over a decade behind a keyboard is not easy.

Here’s what the future of The Apple Post looks like:

  • Fewer stories will be published, but the ones we do share will be longer and more engaging
  • Special events, such as product launches, will continue to be covered; however, live commentary through X (Twitter) will end
  • There will be an infrequent posting pattern, with new stories shared days or weeks apart
  • Updates will continue for The Apple Post’s app for iPhone and iPad, introducing new features and improvements.

On behalf of everyone behind The Apple Post, thank you for being part of our journey over the past 12 years. Every view, share, and follow means the world to us. Our new vision for the future ensures that The Apple Post will remain available for the years ahead and will be here to celebrate many more anniversaries in the future.
