Apple today unveiled the new AirPods 4 lineup, which includes two distinct models: the standard AirPods 4 and the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).
The AirPods 4 feature a refined design developed using advanced modeling tools like 3D photogrammetry and laser topography, the design process involved analyzing thousands of ear shapes and millions of data points to ensure a natural fit for a wide range of users. Enhanced sound quality comes from a new acoustic architecture, low-distortion driver, and high dynamic range amplifier. The earbuds feature Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, while the H2 chip introduces features such as Voice Isolation for clearer calls and Siri Interactions, which allow users to control the device with head movements.
The AirPods 4 charging case now supports USB-C and is over 10% smaller than its predecessor, delivering up to 30 hours of battery life. The case also supports charging via Apple Watch charger or Qi-certified charger, with a size of just 50mm wide.
The AirPods 4 with ANC offer a new level of noise cancellation for an open-ear design. They feature upgraded microphones and the H2 chip’s advanced computational audio to reduce environmental noise, while also introducing features like Transparency mode, Adaptive Audio, and Conversation Awareness. These models are designed to dynamically adjust the noise-cancellation levels based on environmental conditions, improving the listening experience.
Customers can now pre-order AirPods 4 for $129 and AirPods 4 with ANC for $179, with availability starting September 20. Customers purchasing any AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max can also receive a three-month free trial of Apple Music as part of a promotional offer.
