Apple may soon allow authorized resellers to sell the Apple Vision Pro, as the company appears to be developing a new app called “Apple Vision Pro Demo Fit.” This app would help third-party retailers determine the correct accessory sizes for in-store sales.
As discovered by Aaron Perris (via 9to5Mac), the Demo Fit app briefly appeared on the App Store earlier this week before being removed. The app’s description suggests a fitting experience similar to the one Apple currently offers, including facial recognition for sizing and tools for tracking demo sessions, as well as selecting prescription and non-prescription lenses.
According to the app description, it can “measure a guest’s face and determine their vision needs” to recommend the most suitable Light Seal, Head Band, and Optical Inserts for an optimal Vision Pro demo experience.
Since launch, the Vision Pro has been available exclusively through Apple, but this discovery suggests the company may be preparing to expand sales to third-party retailers. The move could be aimed at boosting sales, following reports that Apple scaled back Vision Pro production twice in 2024 due to lower-than-expected demand.
