Apple has rolled out its Apple News+ Audio feature to subscribers in the UK, Canada, and Australia, giving users the ability to listen to curated news stories instead of reading them. Previously available only in the US since its 2020 launch, this marks the feature’s first international expansion.
Accessible via the Audio tab at the bottom of the News app—next to the Sport section—Apple News+ Audio offers professionally narrated stories from major publications like New Scientist and Bloomberg Businessweek. When a story is selected, an audio player appears at the bottom of the screen.
The service also includes a daily audio briefing, hosted by Apple News editors. Unlike Alexa’s Flash Briefing, which relies on a virtual assistant, Apple’s version features human hosts who guide listeners through top headlines before diving into a deeper discussion of three to four featured stories.
