Apple has released iOS 18.3, bringing with it changes to the Apple Intelligence notification summaries feature, improvements to the Visual Intelligence for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, bug fixes, and more.
Available now alongside watchOS 11.3, iOS 18.3 now allows users to identify a broader range of plants and animals using Visual Intelligence, with the feature expanding to allow users to add an event to Calendar from a poster or flyer, with Apple Intelligence recognizing the date, time and location of the event.
iOS 18.3 addresses complaints from publishers about Apple Intelligence notification summaries, which could mislead readers by producing false or inaccurate headlines. With today’s update, notification summaries have been temporarily disabled entirely for the News & Entertainment category of apps. Apple says the feature will be re-enabled for this category in a future software update as it continues to refine the experience.
Notification summaries are now denoted by italicized text on the Lock Screen. This helps better distinguish them from normal notifications.
