Apple reportedly cuts iPhone Air production to “end-of-production” levels

Apple has reportedly reduced production of the iPhone Air to what sources describe as “end-of-production levels,”according to a new report from Nikkei Asia.

The move comes just weeks after the iPhone Air’s debut alongside the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, and follows earlier reports suggesting Apple had already told suppliers to slow output amid weaker-than-expected demand.

Nikkei cites one component supplier as saying: “The total forecast has almost entered end-of-production mode, dropping significantly compared to earlier projections — to only about 10% fewer orders compared with September starting in November.”

The iPhone Air, Apple’s thinnest handset yet at 5.6mm, features a titanium frame, second-generation Ceramic Shield, and a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display.

Despite its ultra-slim design, the device lacks some of the features found on the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro — most notably a second rear camera and a larger battery — which analysts suggest may have contributed to the softer sales performance.

Apple has not commented on the reported production adjustments.
