Apple reportedly plans to discontinue its 12.9-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED display in 2024 when the iPhone maker launches its long-rumored OLED model, according to a report from Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, which notes the discontinuation of the model will lead to an overall decline in mini-LED display shipments next year.
Apple has long been rumored to be developing a new OLED iPad Pro, which could come in a new 13-inch display size.
In general, OLED displays offer a better viewing experience over LED thanks to several advantages in display quality including a larger color range and high contrast levels, better handling of darkness and lighting precision, and fast response times.
Apple is said to be planning a full update to its iPad lineup next year, comprising of a new entry-level iPad, iPad Air and iPad mini to coincide with the launch of the first OLED iPad Pro.
