Apple unlikely to launch new AirPods Max at ‘It’s Glowtime’ special event

As we near Apple’s highly-anticipated ‘It’s Glowtime’ special event, where the iPhone maker is expected to unveil the iPhone 16 series, new Apple Watch Series 10, and more, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said that its unlikely that new versions of the AirPods Max and Apple TV will be unveiled during the showcase.

In a piece highlighting what to expect from tomorrow’s special event, Gurman says that whilst Apple is indeed working on a second-generation version of its over-ear AirPods, featuring new color options and a USB-C port instead of Lightning, with inventory levels remaining high for the current-generation, it is unlikely that Apple will debut its refreshed AirPods Max alongside the launch of the iPhone 16.

Gurman says that in terms of a new Apple TV, “a new version isn’t on the immediate horizon.”

The highlight of tomorrow’s event is expected to be the unveiling of the iPhone 16 series, including the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models. These new iPhones are anticipated to feature a design similar to the iPhone 15 lineup, but with some key updates, such as a new capacitive button on the side for capturing photos and videos. The Pro models are also expected to have slightly larger displays, with the iPhone 16 Pro rumored to have a 6.3-inch screen and the Pro Max a 6.9-inch screen.

In addition to the new iPhones, Apple is also expected to introduce the Apple Watch Series 10 at the event. The Series 10 is rumored to feature larger displays, potentially rivaling the size of the Apple Watch Ultra, along with a thinner case design. This could represent one of the most significant updates to the Apple Watch in recent years.

The event is also likely to see the introduction of new AirPods, with Apple expected to launch two new models of its entry-level AirPods, both featuring noise cancellation for the first time.
