Apple has introduced a new iPad Pro powered by the M5 chip, bringing major gains in performance, AI processing and connectivity.
The M5 chip delivers up to 3.5 times faster AI performance than the previous M4 version, and as much as 5.6 times faster than the M1-powered iPad Pro. It features a 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core, alongside a faster 16-core Neural Engine for more efficient on-device AI tasks such as image generation and video masking.
The new iPad Pro also features Apple’s N1 wireless chip, which adds Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread support, and a new C1X modem for faster and more efficient 5G cellular performance.
Available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, the updated models retain the Ultra Retina XDR display, offering 1600 nits peak HDR brightness, tandem OLED technology, and a new nano-texture glass option for reduced glare. Both models remain impressively thin — 5.3mm for the 11-inch and just 5.1mm for the 13-inch.
Apple says the M5 chip enables up to 1.5x faster 3D rendering and 6x faster video transcoding compared with the M1 iPad Pro, with enhanced support for creative apps like Final Cut Pro and Octane X. Memory bandwidth has increased by nearly 30%, and SSD read/write speeds are up to twice as fast.
The new iPad Pro supports fast charging with Apple’s new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter and remains compatible with the latest accessories, including Apple Pencil Pro and the redesigned Magic Keyboard.
While the new models ship with iPadOS 26, which debuted in September, the hardware is the focus this time — delivering the biggest jump in power since Apple Silicon arrived on iPad.
The new iPad Pro with M5 is available to pre-order now in space black and silver, starting at $999 (U.S.) for the 11-inch Wi-Fi model and $1,299 (U.S.) for the 13-inch. In-store availability begins Wednesday, October 22.
