Whilst it is reported that Apple has turned the majority of its Vision-related efforts into developing a new, more affordable “Apple Vision” headset, the company still has plans for a second-generation version of its flagship Apple Vision Pro, according to Gurman.
Writing in his weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman says the second-generation version of the Apple Vision Pro, known as N109 internally, will offer users a faster processor and improvements to external cameras.
According to Gurman, the planned release of the second-generation Apple Vision Pro has been pushed back from 2025 to late 2026, with the company largely focusing its efforts on a more mainstream version of the headset, dubbed “Apple Vision” which will likely strip out the EyeSight display — the feature that shows a user’s eyes on the outside — and reduce the specifications of the internal virtual reality screens amongst other trade offs for a lower price.
As part of the development of the second-generation Apple Vision Pro, the iPhone maker is also looking at ways to make the second version lighter and more comfortable, reports Gurman, addressing a common complaint with the current-generation model.
