iPad Air and MacBook Air stock dwindling ahead of expected refresh

by Wire Tech

Apple is preparing to launch a new M4 MacBook Air, updated low-end iPads, and a refreshed iPad Air during the first half of 2025, as inventory of the current models begins to dwindle in anticipation of the upcoming refresh.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, stock of the current iPad Air and MacBook Air has been decreasing at Apple retail stores, with a refresh expected soon in 2025.

The report comes alongside insights suggesting that Apple’s long-awaited iPhone SE 4 could launch as soon as next week. Gurman notes, “Inventory of the current iPhone SE has dried up at Apple retail stores in many parts of the US,” a typical sign that a new model is on the horizon.

Gurman also shared insights about the upcoming iPad Air models, identified by code names J607, J608, J637, and J638. These new iPads are expected to focus primarily on specification upgrades rather than major design changes. Similarly, while the performance of the upcoming MacBook Air models is set to improve, no significant changes to the external design are expected. The MacBook Air was last redesigned in 2022, and there have been no notable rumors indicating further design updates. Instead, users can expect the familiar slim and lightweight form factor, with improvements centered on internal specifications.
