Apple’s long-awaited iPhone SE 4 could launch as soon as next week, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
In a report on Friday, citing people who asked not to be identified because the plans are private, Apple is slated to announce the new iPhone through an update to its website, with the device going on sale later in the month.
“There are already telltale signs that the new phone is coming,” says Gurman. “Inventory of the current iPhone SE has dried up at Apple retail stores in many parts of the US, which typically happens before a refresh.”
“Apple retail employees at several stores say that inventory has been dwindling for weeks and customers who want to buy the device in certain configurations sometimes need to be turned away.”
“The phone remains available for purchase on Apple’s online store but some configurations — including a red version with 256 gigabytes of storage — aren’t shipping until March. Stockpiles of the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus also are running low.”
The new iPhone SE is expected to closely resemble the base model of the iPhone 14. Rumored features for the upcoming device include a 6.1-inch OLED display, along with Face ID. The iPhone SE 4 is also expected to include a USB-C port.
On the camera front, the new iPhone SE is rumored to feature a single 48-megapixel rear camera, a significant upgrade over the current model’s camera capabilities. Additionally, the new device will likely be powered by a newer A-series chip and include 8GB of RAM, which will enhance performance and support Apple Intelligence features. The iPhone SE 4 is also expected to be the first device to feature Apple’s custom-designed 5G modem, improving network speeds and overall connectivity.
