Apple’s next-generation iPhone SE is rumored to gain the new Action button expected to come to the yet-to-be-announced iPhone 15 Pro series, according to leaker @Uredditor on X (formally Twitter), who shared an alleged list of “planned features and design changes” for the new device.
The leaker says the next iPhone SE, dubbed the “iPhone SE 4,” will have a new design based on the iPhone 14, featuring Face ID, a USB-C port instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightening connector, one rear camera and an Action button, as found on the Apple Watch Ultra.
With the iPhone 15 Pro, and subsequent next-generation iPhone SE, Apple is expected to replace the set ring/silent switch with an all-new customizable button that will give users the ability to program the button to perform actions, such as turning on the flashlight, enabling low power mode, opening the camera, or switching on Airplane mode.
Previous rumors have claimed that the new iPhone SE will be Apple’s first device to feature a custom-designed 5G modem, likely coming ahead of a wider expansion to the rest of the iPhone series over the coming years.
Apple’s most recent iPhone SE update came in March last year, with the launch of the 5G iPhone SE, featuring the A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13, 5G connectivity, better battery life, improved durability, and a new camera system with Photographic Styles, Deep Fusion, and more for a new, higher price of $429 (US).
