The Declining Brand Value of Twitter/X [Infographic]
So, this may be the best time to post this, or the worst, given the broader state of play with the U.S. Election.
Though either way, the findings, at least at this stage, will essentially be the same, in that Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter, and conversion of the platform into X, has been a disaster for the company’s value, eroding his own $44 investment in the app.
But how much has Twitter/X’s value actually declined? The team from Visual Capitalist have put together this simple overview of X’s declining valuation, based on assessment from Brand Finance.
Note: When you dump a brand as recognizable as Twitter was, it's going to hurt your valuation.
To be clear, a company’s brand value and its purchase price will be different, as you’re also factoring in revenue over time, in addition to said value. So this is not to say that X is necessary now worth less than a billion. But at the same time, it’s probably not worth a lot more at this stage.
