Apple could reportedly skip the iPhone 19 and instead move directly from the iPhone 18 to the iPhone 20, according to a new report from ET News, via 9to5Mac, citing analyst predictions.
The move would echo Apple’s decision in 2017 to bypass the iPhone 9 and release the iPhone X to mark the device’s tenth anniversary.
At a conference in Seoul last month, Omdia Chief Researcher Heo Moo-yeol said Apple is expected to name its 2027 lineup iPhone 20 in recognition of the iPhone’s 20th anniversary. “Apple will launch iPhone 18e and iPhone 20 in the first half of 2027, and iPhone 20 Air, Pro, Pro Max and iPhone Fold 2 in the second half,” Heo said.
While the prediction remains speculative, it would not be unprecedented — Apple has previously adjusted its naming strategy to mark milestone releases.
