iOS 19 to be “the biggest revamp since iOS 7,” featuring a new design and more

Apple’s next major iPhone software update, iOS 19, is rumored to deliver “the biggest revamp since iOS 7,” according to a report by reputable Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman. The update is expected to overhaul the operating system’s look and bring a more cohesive design across Apple’s software ecosystem.

Gurman reports that the new design language is “loosely based on the Vision Pro’s software,” with the redesign spanning iOS 19, iPadOS 19 (code-named Luck), and macOS 16 (code-named Cheer).

The refresh will reportedly affect core elements like icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons — reminiscent of the dramatic shift introduced with iOS 7 in 2013. That update brought flatter icons, a new slide-to-unlock feature, and smoother animations, marking the most significant visual transformation in iOS history.

Apple is expected to unveil iOS 19 at WWDC 2025 in June, with a public release timed for September, coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 17.
