iOS 26.1 to let users adjust Liquid Glass appearance with new ‘Tinted’ option

by Wire Tech

Apple is adding a new customization option for its Liquid Glass design with the release of iOS 26.1, allowing users to reduce the effect’s transparency through a new setting called ‘Tinted.’

Discovered in the latest developer beta, the new option lets users “dial down” the glossy, translucent look that was introduced with iOS 26 in September. According to Apple, “Tinted increases opacity and adds more contrast.”

The feature appears as a simple binary choice, rather than a slider or adjustable scale. Users will be able to select between the standard ‘Clear’ mode — which remains more transparent — or the new ‘Tinted’ option for a more solid, less see-through appearance.

The Liquid Glass interface, which Apple described as giving iOS “a sense of depth and vitality,” is part of the major redesign introduced earlier this year. iOS 26.1 is expected to roll out to all users in the coming weeks.
