The decision to launch macOS Sequoia and iOS 18 simultaneously is aimed at ensuring that cross-platform features, such as the new iPhone Mirroring, are fully operational. iPhone Mirroring will allow users to control their iPhones running iOS 18 from a Mac running macOS Sequoia, enhancing the integration between Apple’s desktop and mobile ecosystems.
macOS Sequoia will introduce several new features, including updated window tiling capabilities, a dedicated Passwords app, and enhancements across Safari, Messages, Maps, Notes, and more. However, Apple Intelligence features will not be available at launch. These capabilities are expected to be introduced in subsequent updates, iOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1, which are anticipated to roll out in October.
