Apple is slated to update the Apple Watch SE in the fall, with reliable supply chain analyst Ross Young suggesting that the new model may be available in two new screen sizes, which will see the device’s current display of 40mm and 44mm increase to closer to the size of the Apple Watch Series 9, which is available in 41mm and 45mm sizes.
According to the analyst, Apple has sent two new Apple Watch SE displays into production, although no further information has been shared other than that the displays will measure in at around 1.6” and 1.8” each, which is an increase over the current models.
The Apple Watch SE 3 is expected to debut in September 2025, marking the first update to the SE line since 2022. Multiple reports suggest the next-generation SE model will see performance upgrades and new features designed to keep it competitive while remaining affordable.
One of the key improvements is likely to be a faster processor—possibly the S10 chip—which would boost performance and enable on-device Siri processing.
While the SE models traditionally lack premium health sensors found in flagship Apple Watch models—such as ECG and temperature monitoring—the SE 3 may introduce sleep apnea detection. This feature could offer users insights into their sleep health using existing sensors, without the need for added hardware. There were also reports that Apple considered introducing a lower-cost plastic casing to appeal to younger users, but this design is now rumored to have been scrapped in favor of retaining the aluminum build.
